About the Brand
Black Hair Force is a brand that promotes vegan, cruelty-free hair care products while offering educational and engaging content about Black hair and culture. It empowers young Black individuals by providing valuable insights on hair care, helping them embrace and maintain their natural beauty.
Objective
The goal was to create a visual identity for a company that specializes in afro hair and whose goals are to represent the black community, youth, empowerment, creativity through its branding, posts, and products. The objective was to create a bold and unique brand identity that will help young black people to empower their beauty, culture, and curls.

Research & Inspiration
The brand name "Black Hair Force" inspired a visual identity that reflects strength and empowerment, transcending hair products. Recognizing the political and cultural significance of afro-textured hair, the design draws from African American music icons like Jimi Hendrix to Curtis Mayfield, whose impact on civil rights became a symbol of empowerment. The bold, powerful design is rooted in funk, soul, and psychedelic music, with colors and elements that reflect nature, vegan values, and the cruelty-free ethos of the brand.

Typography
Artists like Jimi Hendrix to Parliament-Funkadelic really pioneered in music and culture, creating a legacy that continues to influence modern artists. This legacy is something that should be celebrated. Say that by looking at vinyl covers from artists like Jimi hendrix, Curtis Mayfield and Sly the Family. Stone, the a bold font really stood out to me. Nimbus is a psychedelic inspired typeface. It's retro and bold. Inspired the sixties and seventies a time liberated for experiments and self-expression.
Color Palette & Graphic Elements
The color palette and graphic elements were inspired by nature, butterflies, and flowers, symbolizing transformation, resilience, and beauty. Just as nature thrives in diversity and adaptation, Black hair embodies strength, versatility, and cultural identity. This connection reflects not only the organic, cruelty-free values of the brand but also the empowerment and self-expression deeply rooted in the Black community. The visual elements celebrate growth, boldness, and beauty, reinforcing the message that Black hair is more than just hair, it is a statement of identity and pride.

Mood Board & Color Palette
The mood board and color palette feature vibrant, rainbow-inspired hues complemented by soft, nature-based tones. The bright, clear colors evoke energy and empowerment, while the softer gradients suggest beauty, calmness, and a connection to nature. This combination creates an aesthetic that celebrates both boldness and serenity, aligning with the brand's values of empowerment, natural beauty, and authenticity.

Social Media Visual Strategy
For the social media section, a distinct aesthetic and vibe were created for the feed, aligning with the brand’s identity. Custom icons were designed for each story highlight: Portraits, Your Voice, Hot Topics, and Events, each reflecting the essence of the brand. Templates for posts and stories were developed to maintain visual consistency and engage the audience, drawing inspiration from the brand’s vibrant and empowering aesthetic. These elements come together to form a cohesive, dynamic social media presence on platforms like Instagram.

New Packaging
The packaging was transformed from a bland, generic design to something memorable and unique. Ingredients are now highlighted directly on the packaging, enhancing the product's appeal. The new design aligns with the bold, fun aesthetic that Black Hair Force aimed for, perfectly matching the brand's identity and cultural focus. The packaging is now vibrant and reflective of the empowering message the brand seeks to convey.


Labels
The labels were designed with clarity in mind, featuring easy-to-follow instructions and prominently highlighting the key ingredients such as mango butter or sugar cane, depending on the product (hair butter or scalp butter). These ingredients are showcased with beautiful photography, set against a backdrop of flowers, butterflies, and a vibrant gradient. This design choice elevates the product's natural, vegan ethos while maintaining the bold, empowering aesthetic of Black Hair Force.
